Alpha IVF & Women's Specialists is a fertility centre on Jalan PJU 5/22 in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, in Selangor. It describes itself as a purpose-built fertility centre. The Kota Damansara centre was launched on 11 November 2019 by Her Majesty Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, then the Raja Permaisuri Agong, who runs the Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation. To support the foundation, the centre sponsored 15 IVF treatments. At the time, Dr Colin Lee was its founder and managing director; as Datuk Dr Colin Lee Soon Soo, he is now group managing director of Alpha IVF Group Bhd. The group listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia in March 2024 and by 2025 operated four IVF centres across Malaysia and Singapore. When the Kota Damansara centre opened, it reported a team of five fertility specialists and 19 embryologists, geneticists, andrologists and scientists, who between them had produced more than 150 scientific works. Its laboratory was equipped with four EmbryoScope+ units, which take time-lapse images of embryos as they grow so that embryologists can follow their development without removing them from the incubator, and used the Cryotec system for freezing embryos. The centre's listed services include embryo freezing, egg donation and egg banking. For couples concerned about inherited conditions, it offers genetic testing of embryos before transfer, listed as preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), microarray comparative genomic hybridisation (array CGH) and next-generation sequencing (NGS), all methods of checking embryos for genetic or chromosomal problems. The centre says it treats every couple individually, with a treatment plan built around each patient's needs. Alpha IVF has also reported several clinical firsts. These include a saviour sibling programme for single-gene disorders, in which embryos are tissue-matched (HLA typed) to an existing sick child using the same biopsy samples taken for genetic testing, and a successful pregnancy and delivery in a woman born without a vagina because of Müllerian dysgenesis.
