Chapter 6

Working with Your Doctor

Long-term PCOS care works best with a team, and this final chapter explains who might be involved and what ongoing care looks like. It describes a multidisciplinary approach that can include a gynaecologist, endocrinologist, dermatologist, nutritionist and mental health professional. It stresses regular screening of metabolic and reproductive health, given the higher risk of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and recommends routine mental health assessments. Monitoring weight and habits such as diet and physical activity is covered too. The module closes by drawing together the medications and strategies discussed earlier.
